Marketing leadership
for founder-led businesses.

Most founders don't have a marketing strategy. They have momentum. Ready to turn one into the other? That's where I come in.

This is what I do as a Fractional CMO.

I provide strategic marketing leadership for growing companies. The term "Fractional CMO" gets thrown around a lot and that's probably the best way to describe what I do. I come in, assess where your marketing stands, build a marketing system around your goals, and see that plan through to execution.

Early on we collaborate a lot. I ask a lot of questions and we get aligned on where you're headed. After that I largely operate on my own. Most of my clients reach a point where marketing is just handled. That's the goal.

A full-time CMO costs $200K–$350K (or more) per year. A fractional engagement delivers the same strategic leadership at a fraction of that cost.

THE FRAMEWORK

This is how I do it.

01

Assess

A structured investigation into where marketing is breaking down. Most companies have tried tactics. Few have asked why they keep failing.

02

Architect

This is where we build the plan. Using everything we learned in the assessment, we build a custom marketing system and go-to-market strategy built specifically for your business and where you want to take it.

03

Execute

Leading contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure what was planned gets built and measured. A marketing plan is a living document. I make sure it stays that way.

ABOUT

This is who I am.

Hi, I'm Sean. I grew up in a medium sized New England town, spent my early years playing music, and eventually joined the U.S. Air Force where I served six years on active duty in several different roles. I started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the military and quickly began competing and coaching. I was also fortunate to teach combatives to fellow servicemen and women while still serving. After leaving service, I enrolled in the full time MBA program at Temple University and started working with clients in the professional combat sports world. I gained a lot of my early experience as a marketer with major players in the industry including UFC Fight Pass, JockoFuel, and Few Will Hunt. I quickly realized I'd found my lane and began taking more clients in a variety of different industries. I went on to earn a Master of Science in Digital Marketing and founded my company from there.

Since then I've expanded across industries, but the work is the same: build marketing systems for businesses that are ready to grow intentionally. Outside of client work, I serve as the Philadelphia Area Coordinator for the We Defy Foundation, where I coordinate fundraising events and consult with their national team on marketing efforts. Their mission is placing combat-disabled veterans into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms to support mental health and recovery. I've also provided pro bono consulting to several other nonprofits whose missions I believe in.

FAQ

This is what you want to know.

A Fractional CMO is a senior marketing leader who works with your company without the commitment of a full-time hire. You get strategic marketing leadership, an experienced decision maker, and someone who owns your marketing direction at a fraction of the cost of a full-time CMO. For founder-led and growth-stage businesses that aren't ready to add a six-figure salary, it's often the most practical and effective option.

Agencies execute. A Fractional CMO leads. Most agencies will take your budget and run campaigns without anyone owning the strategy behind them. I come in as a strategic marketing leader, build the system, and oversee whoever is doing the execution. The difference is accountability and direction at the leadership level.

Every engagement is different but the structure is consistent. We start with an assessment of where your marketing stands, build a go-to-market strategy around your goals, and then move into execution. Early on we collaborate closely. Over time I operate more independently and marketing becomes something that is simply handled.

I work with founder-led and owner-operated businesses that are generating revenue and ready to grow intentionally. Typically these are small to mid-sized companies that have built something real but haven't yet put a formal marketing system behind it.

A real marketing strategy covers more ground than most people expect. Depending on where your business is, it can include brand positioning and messaging, go-to-market planning, website strategy, content development, paid media direction, SEO, email marketing, social media strategy, and the analytics framework to measure all of it. The difference between a strategy and a task list is that a strategy connects all of these into a system with a clear purpose. That purpose can be revenue growth, market positioning, or both. Most businesses have some of these pieces but not the connective tissue between them. That's usually where I come in.
